My work is about creating an emotional space that is confrontational, yet familiar and inviting to personal introspection. I work from an autobiographical standpoint, but aim to evoke a shared psychological state and address larger cultural issues such as ethnic identification, homelessness, and drug and alcohol abuse. Whether I am painting and drawing, or working with video and installation, my aesthetic is vibrant with movement, sound, and color. Often, I use tones, shapes, and symbols that are overtly phallic or bodily in order to anchor the emotional space and its psychological effects to the human form.
