Landscapes
I paint landscapes through different lenses, exploring the capacity of paint to invest the environment before me with meaning. A different story emerges from the landscape depending on the mode of representation. A dreamy, painterly approach offers a meditative space for visual experience. While a more refined, representational mode is appropriate to illustrate facts tied to a specific place.

How land is used by communities is one recurring theme in these landscapes, despite the various modes of representation. I approach this theme subtly, by omitting people from the pictures and by focusing on fences and division of color and space in the paintings.
